7 of the Greatest Songs of My Life

Who doesn’t love good music? While everyone’s taste is a little bit different, I have a list of fav songs that always send me into daydreams. I wish each one was an hour longer. Sometimes I just listen to these songs over and over. I put my headphones on and drift away from all my problems. Life is complicated for a reason. That’s what motivates us to listen to such good music!

You almost all know these ear-worms by heart. I see people listening to them all the time. Here’s my list and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

1. Goo Goo Dolls: Jim’s Theme from “Treasure Planet”

Why don’t they make a live-action version of this movie? It’s such a great story. It’s based on the classic Treasure Island story by Robert Louis Stevenson. This is such an incredible take on teen angst.

2. Natalie Imbruglia: “Torn”

This song is the story of my life! Haha! It’s such a cute video. I’m too young to remember the song when it came out. This is a cover of an older song. She did such a good job with it. You go, girl!

3. Maroon 5: “Sunday Morning”

My mom fell in love with this song. They used it in the movie “Something’s Gotta Give” with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. They proved that old people can have love stories too!

4. Avril Lavigne: “I’m With You”

My friends say “ew! this song is so old!” It is old, I grant you. But I love it. She put so much passion into this song. Everyone played it to death when it first came out. It made you sick. But I remember cruising the aisles in Blockbuster video stores when this song came out and I loved it. I felt like I was walking the streets with Avril as she sang to me.

5. Pink: “Who Knew”

This is one of those great sing-a-long tunes you fall in love with before you realize what the words mean. I didn’t know at first she was singing about a friend she lost to drugs. This is how she really felt. My heart goes out to everyone who loses someone to that kind of pain. I love this song even more now that I know what it means.

6. Katy Perry: “Roar”

Oh, you know me girls! I LOVE this song. This is the anthem for women everywhere. I was blown away when it first came out! Katy Perry could do no wrong with this song. “Roar” is the greatest self-empowerment song ever written!

7. Kelly Clarkson: “Breakaway”

This was the song for my generation. My friends always played this song whenever they could. My family began calling me Breakaway Amy. It is such a positive, self-empowering song. How can anyone not fall in love with it?
